The SM2259XT firmware corruption issue has been successfully resolved via low-level SMI MP Tool re-flashing. While unrecoverable for data, the drive hardware is returned to 100% factory operational state. This procedure is recommended for refurbishment of bricked SM2259XT-based SSDs.
Once the PC boots up, remove the tweezers from the pads. The drive is now locked into hardware ROM mode and ready to accept new firmware. Step 2: Identify Your NAND Flash Memory
Click the button (or press F5). Your drive should appear in one of the configuration boxes, likely labeled as an explicit Silicon Motion ROM device.
The configuration file chosen does not perfectly match the physical flash layout or voltage requirements. Double-check your NAND ID.
Run the tool against your drive's assigned drive letter. It will output the exact flash type (e.g., Micron 96L(B27A) TLC or Intel 64L TLC ). Step 3: Download the Matching SM2259XT MPTool
: Run the tool, load the correct configuration, and execute the "Start" command to rewrite the firmware. Why SM2259XT Drives Fail
If you see any of these, the NAND hardware might be fine, but the firmware is broken. A firmware fix can revive it.
Return to the main tab and click the button (or press Spacebar).
Are you comfortable opening the drive casing to ?
If the data is backed up and you simply want to salvage the physical hardware, you can re-initialize the drive using mass production MPTools (Mass Production Tools) leaked from Silicon Motion factories.
